Structured Cable Plant Design & Implementation
Today’s networks are demanding higher data throughputs which translate into requirements for more efficient network architectures and network infrastructures. In order to guarantee that system will meet the design requirements, structured cable plants designs must follow TIA/EIA standards and BICSI recommended best practices. |
Designs must also take financial impacts into account because, depending on the size of the cable plant, the price of cable, pathways, and termination equipment can be substantial. ESEI’s experienced design and proven implementation practices ensure that large investments in cable infrastructure are correctly implemented in order to maximize client’s investment in technology. In addition, ESEI’s experience integrating different technologies such as fiber-optics, copper cables, and coaxial systems ensures optimum transmission of different signals. ESEI has experience developing specifications using the Construction Specifications Institutes (CSI) MasterFormat. This allows us to integrate our designs into the overall Architectural rendition when necessary. ESEI’s engineers also incorporate requirements from other systems such as building automation, access control, audio-visual, and security into the overall cable plant design.

ESEI’s designs are based on the following three-phase approach which makes sure that initial requirements are satisfied and future growth addressed:
1. Defining Requirements • Identify telecommunications rooms and spaces • Assess need for electrical and HVAC services • Assess flooring, lighting, and seismic requirements • Review LAN/WAN architecture • Identify cable present and future requirements • Identify other systems, i.e. security, audio-visual, etc.
2. Planning and Design • Develop pathways and spaces design • Design equipment room layouts • Design backbone and horizontal cable systems • Develop equipment delivery schedules • Develop detailed budgets • Develop project timelines and schedules • Develop technical specifications and drawings
3. Project Management • Define project deliverables and milestones • Manage cable plant installation and integration • Generate requests for proposals and evaluate bids • Coordination with IT and Facilities Department • Contract and cost reconciliation • Cable plant test and certification • Create "As-Built" Information |
